The DDD Scoop “Employment First Project”
~~“As previously reported in the DDD Scoop, the Division of Developmental Disabilities is managing an employment project with the intent to increase the number of individuals with I/DD working in individualized, competitive integrated employment and to expand the State's capacity and expertise in the delivery of individualized, competitive integrated employment. This project is being funded through the Balancing Incentive Program (BIP) and participating providers were chosen through a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO). The project's funding allows for a maximum of 200 individuals to be enrolled in the project, and the project ends June 30, 2017.
The Division is currently working with 11 DT providers who are providing employment recruitment, assessment and placement services to the individuals enrolled. The recruitment and enrollment process for this project began at the end of October of 2016, and to date there are 186 enrollees. Of these individuals, 59 have had an assessment and job development reports submitted, and 4 individuals have already secured employment. We are excited to see these positive outcomes so quickly, and look forward to more successful outcomes by June 30. We appreciate the efforts of the providers involved, and congratulate the individuals enrolled.”
