Policy
The report includes findings and recommendations targeted at improving both the lives of and the outcomes for individuals and families living with mental illnesses, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders in Michigan. Recommendations include:
1.) Revising administrative policy to instruct all personnel assisting “in the development of individual person-centered plans to include employment objectives for clients who wish to be employed.”
2.) Adopting a statewide employment policy, through legislation and/or executive order, that prioritizes “the choices and goals of the individual and includes a variety of appropriate options to achieve those goals.”
3.) Encouraging the State of Michigan to “be a leader in adopting these employment practices within state government.”
