Training Services for Out of School Youth

Rhode Island

State Policies & Initiatives:
Policies and Programs

ORS develops IPEs with youth within 90 days of eligibility determination. The

IPE establishes an occupational goal for the individual that is updated prior to completion of high school. This IPE also establishes if employment, training, and/or college will be required to reach that occupational goal. ORS has fee-for-service arrangements for service arrangements with job developers that can be enlisted to assist the individual in obtaining a job or the training required for the job goal. This fee-for-service structure enables youth to receive the services and/or training necessary to transition to employment.

ORS has a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the three state institutions of higher education: Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI), Rhode Island College (RIC), and the University of Rhode Island (URI)
